Basset Hound Rescue League, Inc.
For more than 25 years, the Basset Hound Rescue League (BHRL) has responded to public calls by helping thousands of neglected or abandoned hounds. We are not a shelter, but a rescue organization. Our rescued dogs are in several locations and you must submit an adoption application and be approved before meetings with the dogs are arranged.

Of the countless animal emergencies, most involved family crises and financial burdens. Along with natural disasters, the current economic depression with record high unemployment and loss of homes is now the major cause of pets being abandoned or given up to shelters. Moreover, the costs of veterinary care, pet food and supplies have skyrocketed. Adoptions have declined because families are unable to assume responsibility for another mouth to feed. Donations have also decreased due to these economic factors.

BHRL’s veterinary bills for spay/neuter, inoculations, worming, medicines and boarding of one rescued dog average $300 to $400. We have paid for surgeries, acupuncture treatments, physical therapy, pain medication, antibiotics and K-9 carts to aid in dogs’ recovery. Your contributions will help BHRL continue its rescue and rehabilitation work for the deserving hounds that have fallen on hard times. We are all volunteers giving of our time, efforts and funds to help the hounds. 100% of donations received by BHRL go directly to our rescue and rehabilitation efforts. Please examine the options in the list on the left to see if you can help.
